Confined Non-Entry Rescue

Confined Non-Entry Rescue Course Description: The course is designed to review the potential hazards and regulatory requirements of permit required confined spaces, and to meet the annual requirements for performance evaluation of non-entry rescue teams. Non-Entry Rescues are rescues that are conducted without entry into the confined space by the rescue team. This can be conducted by such means as a rope or winch, tripod or davit arm systems.

Curriculum reviews OSHA regulatory requirements including types of confined spaces, the risks and hazards of confined spaces, and emergency procedures so employees can perform duties assigned. Additional information reviewed includes attendant, entrant and supervisor responsibilities, atmospheric testing procedures, general ventilation practices, and entry procedures.

Confined Space Field Exercise and Practical Evaluation: Course includes onsite training on worker safety while performing confined space entry and non-entry rescue activities. Participants will practice making confined space rescues by simulating rescue operations in which they remove manikins or participants from a confined space.

Who Should Attend: Required for confined space entry teams who utilize non-entry rescue equipment such as ropes, winches, tripods or davit arm systems during confined space entry operations. OSHA requires rescue teams to practice permit space rescues at least once every 12 months.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

Prerequisite: Confined Space Competent Person Certification. All participants must be able to provide current proof of training.

Safety Equipment Required: Attending participants are required to bring a Hardhat, Safety Glasses, Work Gloves, Work Boots, Reflective Vest or Jacket and wear proper Work Clothing for participation in the confined space practical exercise.

Confined Space Equipment Recommended: Participating workgroups are encouraged to bring their fall protection harness, tripod, hoist, or entry system, calibrated atmospheric monitor, and ventilation equipment for field exercise.

Employees will receive a certification of completion by actively participating in the course and demonstrating knowledge in the classroom and at the training exercise site.

Learning Aids: Participants should come prepared with a notepad and pen. Guides and handouts will be provided at the start of the course. The presentation and materials are in English (Spanish courses are available upon request).
